For Anabelle is a picture book that follows Anabelle, a young girl who has only ever lived in and known New York City. She becomes enamored with wildlife and nature through her grandfather's rare fossil collection and longs to experience the natural world. Anabelle’s wish is answered one night when a crane arrives at her bedroom window, and together they embark on a journey to a time before the city came to be—when it was all wetlands.
